I'm a novelist and freelance writer, based in the West Country.
Was your creativity affected in any way during the lockdown? Did being lockdown make you feel inspired or deflated? I've tried to treat lockdown as a creative challenge (with mixed results...) and to make the best of it. Getting outdoors as much as possible has helped. I finished pne novel and I've started another.
Was it therapeutic doing creative work during lockdown? Definitely. Having a routine has helped and something to aim for.
What was the main thinking behind your work submitted to Together Behind Four Walls ? A short tale of a character reaching out and wanting to feel valued, even if it meant bending the truth.
What inspires most of your work? Characters, choices and consequences.
Do you have any favourite stories , from all the stories you have written? My favourite is the one I finish - for about two weeks. Then I can't stand it, and gradually it wins back my affections.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote or one of the first?
My first short story that got noticed, Behind Enemy Lines, was written in the 1990s. It recounts an invasion story with a difference.
Do you ever think of stories before going to sleep or just after waking up? Yes, I have also dreamt ideas that end up in stories.
