           interview with meo

This interview, with Meo  is in both English and French...

Which musicians have you worked with?

I started with a group called "PARADOXE" which lasted 8 years in my region in Alsace, it worked quite well, we did 2 or 3 warmups for "Doctor Feelgood", won the "Guitar & keyboard " competition, we did a festival Bourges and we signed for a Major, I was 17 and a half. When I arrived in Paris, I met Sylvain LUC a great jazz musician, Kenny Norris etc ... I composed quite a bit for some French stars, Thomas Dutronc (Turlututu, Demain, Allongés dans l'herbe), Romane Serda, Amandine Bourgeois, Claire Keim etc ... I also set up some personal projects with Francis H POWELL, Meo & The alternative Preachers, OEM, in which I sing in English. In French, I have a project called MEO. I released a song "La dissidanse" 2 years ago and I am preparing a new one with Amandine Bourgeois and Nono (Trust) which should materialize in the next month.

Which do you prefer, English or American music

English music without any hesitation, although I also love the whole Rock movement of Seatle (Peal Jam, Mike Paton (faith no more, Mr Bungle) and some Californians like RATM and SOAD). But the English are the best, they invented everything, are real people, the Americans are too much in the facade it's less deep and super superficial. Who are your favorite musicians? David Bowie, Mike Patton, Mick Jagger, Pj Harvey, Neil Young, Chris Tyle, Bjork, Bruce Dickinson, Nina Hagen, Kraftwerk, Rammstein, Joni Mitchell, Pearl Jam, SOAD, Rage Against The Machine, Urban Dance Squad, and so many more ...

Who do you prefer, The Beatles or the Rolling Stones?

The Rolling Stones, I own 250 singles  and at least 600 albums in all editions ... It's the rock bible for me.

Was your creativity affected in any way during the lockdown? Has confinement inspired or discouraged you?

Not at all, on the contrary .... This world is becoming more and more crazy, it is therefore a real source of inspiration, even if this does not promise anything encouraging for our future. On the other hand, it is very interesting to experience key moments of our era. I am pessimistic by nature, but it inspired me like all the misfortunes or happiness in the world.

Was it therapeutic to do creative work while in confinement?

Music for me has always been medicine. A remedy to find the world less ugly ... Confinement allowed me to see others live what I have always lived. Everyone has found themselves confronted in the daily life of an artist. It's always fascinating to find ourselves face to face with the world and unarmed, it forces us to question ourselves .... Hopefully everyone has come a little way so that things are moving a little in a better direction .. .

How did you occupy your time?

Just like the other days of my life. It didn't change anything for me at all. I just cooked a little more ... We made our own bread, we talked with my partner, we took the time to live, oddly enough, it was a very rich moment.

Do you do other creative activities?

Cooking.

If you had to write a song about yourself, how would it start?

" Why ? " Why... This is the question I have to ask myself most often ... Why do we accept all this, why do we allow ourselves to do all this, why do we suffer stupidity, why do we remain powerless, why then are we all the same and want them? same things .. Why ....

David Bowie, Mike Patton, Mick Jagger, Pj Harvey, Neil Young, Chris Tyle, Bjork, Bruce Dickinson, Nina Hagen, Kraftwerk, Rammstein, Joni Mitchell, Pearl Jam, SOAD, Rage Against The Machine, Urban Dance Squad, et tellement d'autres...

Pourquoi ....
